7 Keys to Love
Be the Author of Your Love Story!
When we go to the movies to see a love story, the best movies are those where the characters experience twists and turns, upsets and roadblocks to love.  The characters have to overcome difficulties on their way to a happy ending of true love.  In most people’s lives, they experience Love Lost. They can then continue on life’s journey, seeking to find love again. Some sincerely try to gain love once more. Many fail again. Some become resigned and cynical about love. The hurt may become hurtful. Others don’t give up on love so easily. Some take the time, make the effort, and invest in learning new love and communications skills to ensure they are prepared to love well when the right one comes along.  In the 7 Keys to Love program you will learn to explore your inner thoughts and feelings about love, and you will gain awareness of 7 love skills that will help you overcome challenges to love within, and with others.

The Wisdom Practice

for Women and Men Who Value Growing Conscious Relationships
Everyday life presents challenges. We are also given a chance to gently notice any suffering inside us and around us. We also have the chance to feel compassion, peace and love, and act with thoughtful consideration and kindness. Each day we can apply mindfulness, compassion and wisdom to what shows up in our lives.  To do this, we will take some time in this program to explore healthy principles for living and develop a mindfulness practice. We will then use character traits and apply them to life’s situations. In The Wisdom Practice we will review character traits with three questions: 1) Which character trait(s) helped you solve a problem you had recently? 2) Lack of which character trait(s) create difficulties for you? 3) What three character traits would you like to use and apply this month?  You will be given a list of 48 character traits to choose from to practice expanding your wisdom, which is sure to enhance the quality of your life.

Communication Skills

for Individuals, Couples, Parents and Teens
As their life continues, some people discover they need to grow, develop and communicate more effectively. It takes awareness and courage to recognize the need to communicate better and seek training. Effective communication can help overcome life’s challenges and enhance your relationships. In this program you will gain constructive, respectful, consistent, healthy communication skills to facilitate your own and others growth and development. Through improving your communication skills, you will gain greater capacity for problem-solving, decision-making, resolving conflict and strategic planning. You will practice asking for help, and for what you need and want. You will learn to communicate effectively in a way that inspires, entertains, informs, motivates, changes perceptions, changes lives, and creates collaborative relationships at home, in the workplace, or the community.  This is a program for individuals, couples, parents or teens seeking to improve communication and enjoyment of each other, other family, co-workers and community members.

The Urgent Need to Talk with Teens & Children

A Speech for Parents & Professional Associations
Many caring, thoughtful people, from all walks of life, are keenly aware and deeply concerned that children, teens and parents are suffering, locally, nationally and globally.

Youth are under great peer pressure to drink alcohol and take drugs; some have costly drug and alcohol related car accidents. Some engage in risky sex, and young people, aged 15 to 24 get about half the world's new HIV infections. Others drop-out, are arrested, shot, killed, self-mutilate, commit suicide, and overdose each day.

Parents are often under economic stress, may have little time to participate in their children’s lives, and may not be effective communicators with stressed or agitated children and teens.

Youth often succumb to boredom, negative influences in the media, the Internet and the community.
There is an urgent need for parents to protect, nurture, take good care and motivate their children to stay out of trouble, avoid wasting time on trash media, and seek help academically if needed.

Thus, it is essential for parents to be involved in their children’s lives because we clearly see that the schools can’t do it all. Parents have to be involved, and have ongoing communications with their children.

Unfortunately, many parents are often under great financial and emotional stress, and need help themselves. Parents are usually not trained in interpersonal communication, may get into arguments with their children, and many eventually stop communicating.

A Parents Communication Skills lecture or workshop can help parents gain the skills they need to keep a conversation going. They can help their children identify their feelings, values and needs, and make respectful, reasonable requests to get what they need, in a healthy way, even in difficult communities, and a difficult world.

Parents attending a Parents Communication Skills lecture or workshop will be able to keep the conversation alive throughout their child’s developmental process.

Parents in ongoing conversation with their child, teen or young adult can encourage them to find and focus on their INTERESTS, a PURPOSE, a PLAN and a PROGRAM to help them keep their dreams alive, and encourage them to make PROGRESS toward flexible, and if necessary, adaptive GOALS.
