More Enjoyable Phone Conversations

Here are some
ideas about how
to make personal
(not professional)
phone conversations
more enjoyable:

There are different types of conversations...

One is the long, exploratory conversation of 30 minutes to two hours,
where you just discuss, share and talk casually about what's going on... letting subjects arise as they may... wandering around and sharing what is going on for you ...

Below are some tips for the brief 5-10 minute conversation... These are tips for a short conversation… where one does not have much time…
  •  Don’t talk on speaker phone - It is harder to understand... and the person sounds pressured because they are forcing themselves to speak up… they never sound sweet, relaxed, kind

  • Beginning - begin with a nice greeting, hello

  • Middle - discuss pertinent issues or share a bit of humor
    * Don’t drag on or "think out loud"…
listening to someone think out loud can be frustrating… be considerate of the listener… don't be totally wrapped-up in yourself … it is natural to be confused once in a while, but people who think out loud all the time can sound unskilled at thinking clearly, self-centered or inconsiderate of others…

    * Get to the point, the heart of the matter... you only have 5-10 minutes...

    * Know what you want: confirmation of information, clarification, support, praise, warmth, fun...

    * Share what you want... like "I just called for your love…"

  •  End - end with an enthusiastic, warm goodbye

Do you have any suggestions for better phone conversations?

I'll keep adding your suggestions here.
