Learning Communities for a Sustainable Planet

The riots in the UK are a sign we all need to communicate better to solve our problems collectively…

I recently sent an invitation to caring, thoughtful people on Long Island to form a Learning Community to help solve our social and economic problems.

Here's the invitation I sent:
Vision
The Long Island Learning Community
Commonweal means the good of a community, surely something good for our species; yet we seem to be living in a Culture of Hyper-Competition.

A few of us have agreed that life on planet Earth, including the United States, is in peril.

Selfishness seems to be sweeping the planet cloaked as clannishness, tribalism, hostility, brutishness, political hyper-competition, snobbery, elitism and greed.

The Long Island Learning Community is being established to seek to bring the power of learning to help find solutions to this tragedy of human nature and lack of Commonweal.

We may then provide a Long Islandwide Conference on our findings and recommendations.

Please accept this invitation to be a founding member of the Long Island Learning Community and make recommendations for other members who are emotionally and socially
skilled, intellectually gifted, and yearning to help society evolve to be in balance with nature.

Please accept this invitation to serve the whole,
Sandy Hinden

From my perspective, the riots in the UK are a sign we need sustainable communities, sustainable populations and a sustainable planet, yet politicians don't yet understand what this means.

Most politicians are draw into competitive, win/lose debates, an anachronistic way to communicate instead of setting up a process of Appreciative Inquiry to create what we need and want -- a creative, sustainable world -- based on creative sustainable economics -- with creative, sustainable communities -- with sustainable populations.

Until leaders understand these basic concepts, the
world will suffer:
2. Sustainable populations
3. Creative, sustainable communities
4. Creative, sustainable economics
5. Creative, sustainable planet

You can set up your own Learning Community to explore how to create sustainable communities where you live.

“You cannot solve a problem from the same consciousness that created it.
You must learn to see the world anew.”

Albert Einstein

This is a wonderful idea and I hope that you get a lot of positive response. There cannot be any question that things have gone awry. Thank you for your personal efforts to help bring the change we need.

Thank Linda... the Appreciative Inquiry model of communication has people look at our assets and positive resources we can bring to the table to collaborate with... to co-create what we really need and want -- sustainably and creatively... We need to pull back from the win/lose model ... calm down and co-create together ... True, some are just not ready to do this, stuck in negativity... but many are ready, willing and able to unite for more creative evolution... I can be reached at sandyhinden@7keystolove.net
